When entering the Voices of Youth program, I didn't think of the blooming of an artist, of discovering the different emotions of ranchers, or of working with some great people. I just thought it would be fun. Looking at my project now, I know that I have done all those things and more. I revealed why individuals who grew up ranching left it or chose to continue the life. They all had their reasons for staying or leaving, and because of this project I was able to uncover those reasons.

I was able to get hands-on experience in two things I enjoy: talking to people and getting to know them, then taking a picture to reveal some of that knowledge. I was intrigued by the opportunities of experimentation all the equipment gave me. Creating awesome recordings with a computer and discovering you can waste an entire roll of film and not know it until you process it two weeks later were just some of the cool things I accomplished. When referring to the blooming of an artist, I am still unsure about that one. Since our teachers Bruce and Jack always referred to us becoming artists, I figured it must be somewhat true. I loved it all.
