Hi, my name is Rachael Sandoval, but everyone just calls me Roxy. This is my second year participating in Voices of Youth. This year I have based my project on the punks and skaters of Elko.

I collected sound bites from the local punk concerts including The Teen Tragedies, a band from Salt Lake, and Diecathrisis, a band from Elko! I interviewed a close friend of mine, Brad Johns. I also interviewed Ursula Powers from the City of Elko. Ursula helped get the skate park built in Elko. To all the people like Ursula, who cared enough about teens to give them a place to hang out, thank you.

We meet people every day, some are friends and some we wish we would have never met. We see people so precious to us waste away, but we prefer to remember them as the beautiful human beings they once were. Help yourself, and everybody around you, remember the wonderful people in your life by taking the time to interview them or take photos of them. Because in the end, those photos and those interviews are the only great memories you have of them.
