Capturing a moment seems a sacred duty. I want to be able to tell myself, in case I ever happen to ask, that I captured every moment I needed to -- through a drawing, a photograph, or a story that I will tell myself time and again. If my essential moments have been captured, then I've done my duty as an artist. I've put myself, my interpretation of myself, and all that I see on display, because if I am in love with that moment, I want other people to be in love with it too.

Most of the moments I have to share have happened in Elko. Elko has shaped the way I look at everything because it has entirely permeated my being. Here I have been taught many things: acceptance, respecting others' interpretations, fun, and enjoying fully the place where I live. I thought that if Elko had affected my perspective, then other people must be affected too. What I found, with the help of Voices of Youth, was that people here have unique and wonderful aspects of themselves, and a lot of that is thanks to Elko. We see things through a different light that is tinted by our experiences here. I am better off because of having lived in Elko.
