My lot in life is to travel the American West creating visual and verbal images that reveal the relationships between people and place. I believe it imperative, at this point in time, for all people to re-evaluate their place within their community settings and pursue work that strengthens the bonds between us and where we live.

The basic idea at work here is a simple one: Place cameras and recorders in the hands of youth and ask them to comment on and creatively express their relationship to their community, the people and land they live with.

These are eight extraordinary young women. Extraordinary because they have taken the time to show us the beauty and integrity in the ordinary lives of their own family, friends, and acquaintances. Their work is a reminder to us all to savor each day, to find beauty, humor and personal meaning in the world around us and to share that joy with others. The work is a true act of reciprocity. By their effort they have gifted their community with a reflection of itself. I think of these young women as creative peers and will forever cherish our time spent cruising the backroads, visiting wonderful people, bringing our visions to life in the darkroom, and generally enjoying life!
