In 1987, folk singer, songwriter and newspaper columnist Mary McCaslin released an LP called "Prairie in the Sky" on Rounder Records: the LP soared in the charts, introducing a generation of listeners to the world of traditional American cowboy music and inspiring many others to record their songs about the West and its traditions.
