These 3-inch squares of engraved silver were donated to the Western Folklife Center by the artists who participated in an engraving contest at our Cowboy Chrome exhibition in 1996. The pieces gathered here graphically illustrate the range of artistic expression being practiced in the West today. The pieces were judged on layout and cutting skills, as well as originality.
