Songwriter Dave Alvin was inspired to write this song by the death of his father. His dad had suffered from Alzheimers Disease and spent his last days in a nursing home, yet found a way to mentally cope with his deteriorating situation. This piece aired on Father’s Day 2005 as a tribute to all of us who have watched our fathers die. The song appears on Dave's CD, Ashgrove.
