Folklorist Archie Green rediscovers one of America’s oldest work songs during a field trip in which he meets an aging mill worker named Nancy Dixon who sings the song from her deathbed. Nancy’s brother Dorsey sings this old ballad on his CD Babies in the Mill.  Other renditions of this song can be found on the Smithsonian Folkways Records label.
