Throughout the year, volunteers help in four main categories of support: special events, office/administration, exhibit docents, and exhibit production. As a volunteer you are contributing directly to the Western Folklife Center's mission to document and preserve the cultural traditions of the American West. We hope you'll be a part of our organization by becoming a volunteer! If you would like to help with the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering, click here to complete an application online. Applications will be reviewed closer to the date of the Gathering. The 30th Gathering is January 27 - February 1, 2014. Western Folklife Center

During the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering and throughout the year, more than 400 volunteers support the Western Folklife Center’s activities. Volunteers are a critical complement to our staff and without them we literally could not succeed. During the Gathering, the volunteer opportunities are numerous, ranging from logging (taking notes) at performances, running a guest services desk, assisting at workshops, bartending, and much, much more.
