Volunteer

Volunteers at the Gathering, Photo by Jessica Brandi LiflandDuring the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering and throughout the year, more than 400 volunteers support the Western Folklife Center’s activities. Volunteers are a critical complement to our staff and without them we literally could not succeed. During the Gathering, the volunteer opportunities are numerous, ranging from logging (taking notes) at performances, running a guest services desk, assisting at workshops, bartending, and much, much more.

Throughout the year, volunteers help in four main categories of support: office/ administration, special events, exhibit docents, and exhibit production. As a volunteer you are contributing directly to the Western Folklife Center's mission to document and preserve the cultural traditions of the American West.

If you are interested in being a year-round volunteer, or would just like to help with the Gathering, please download the volunteer application, print it off and complete it. Please mail the completed application or drop it off at our Gift Shop.
