The Auction

JoLynn Kirkwood, photo by Kevin Martini-FullerSome of the best poems and songs at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering are performed each year in the smaller venues at Elko - - the Take Your Turn and Anything Goes sessions. JoLynne Kirkwood's poem "The Auction" is just such a poem that stood out at the 2006 Gathering. Here it is now, along with an interview excerpt with JoLynne, in this episode of Ranch Rhymes.

Length: 8:48 ~ Listen or Podcast from iTunes.

At the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering, ranchers, cowboys, western poets and musicians sign up daily to recite and perform for their friends and peers. The participants and audience may include other performers from the cowboy poet and musician community as well as the larger Gathering audience.

In general, Anything Goes sessions are for poetry and Take Your Turn features music. Sessions run throughout each day of the Gathering. Be sure to plan on taking in at least one session at your next National Cowboy Poetry Gathering!
