Northeastern Nevada Museum Explore western history and art exhibits. Location: 1515 Idaho Street. Current exhibits: Will James Collection and western art by Canadian, Shannon Lawlor. Showing of the Will James’ movie “Smoky” will be held in the museum theatre. Museum hours are Tuesdays - Saturdays, 9:00am - 5:00pm, and Sundays 1:00pm - 5:00pm. Admission: adults $5; seniors $3, discounts for children and military and museum members are free. The Art of the West Reception will be Friday, February 3, 6:00pm to 8:00pm. National California Trail Interpretive Center: Western Film Festival and More Open Saturday, January 28 and Tuesday, January 31, through Saturday, February 4, 9:00am - 5:00pm. Free Admission. The Trail Center is located 8 miles west of Elko just north of I-80 at the Hunter Exit 292. Shoshone Storytelling on January 28 featuring Katherine Blossom (Newe elder from Elko), Norm Cavenaugh (elder of Do'zha Wehee' band, Western Shoshone), Ellison "Bombo" Jackson (elder from Owyhee) and others, free event starts at 2:00 pm. Daily: 10:30 am and 12:30 pm, segments of Ken Burns' & Stephen Ives' documentary "The West;" at 2:30, North American perspectives on the West oral histories will be shown.
