As part of the Western Folklife Center's Pony Up! campaign, cowboy poets and musicians are pairing up with friends of the Folklife Center across the country to host a series of house concerts.
Hosting a house concert with help from a cowboy poet or musician is a wonderful way to bring a little bit of the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering to your own backyard. Introduce your friends and neighbors to cowboy humor, culture, and camaraderie, while helping to raise money for the Western Folklife Center. Folklife Center staff will work with you to match you up with a performer who will donate their time and talent to the cause. The goal of each house concert is to raise a minimum of $1000 through donations, so we need hosts who can accommodate at least 50 people who will each throw at least $20 in the kitty. Your main job will be to commit to getting your friends and acquaintances out for an intimate evening of cowboy poetry or music. We encourage potluck, BYOB-style parties, since we anticipate 100% of the proceeds from the evening to directly benefit the Folklife Center. Read the "How To" primer on hosting a House Concert.
