The Western Folklife Center believes that hands-on experience is the best teacher. We offer workshops during the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering and the summer season in Northeast Nevada that provide participants with unique opportunities to try their hand at traditional arts such as rawhide braiding, horsehair hitching, pulled wool saddle blankets, cooking, poetry and prose writing workshops, and we have led botonizing hikes and ranch tours during the summer months. These workshops and classes are kept small so that participants can interact and get to know each other as they learn.
